  • Jones, Miller engagement announced

    Tommy and Rhonda Jones of Galax announced the engagement of their daughter, Katheryn Regina Jones, to Mark Allen Miller, son of Roger and Sharon Miller of Fries.

    The future bride was graduated from Southwest Virginia Community College with an associate’s degree in applied science as a certified occupational therapy assistant and is employed with the Carroll County Public School System.

  • Choate, Iroler engagement announced

    Daniel Choate and Jane Choate of Galax announce the engagement of their daughter, Brittni Choate, to Barrett Iroler, son of Barry and Barbara Iroler of Fancy Gap.

    Choate is the granddaughter of Andy and Dora Leigh Choate of Galax and Barbara Caldwell and the late George Caldwell of Galax.
    She is a 2006 graduate of Carroll County High School and a 2009 graduate of Wytheville Community College. She attends Virginia Commonwealth University.

    Zonnie and Vicky Hill of Fancy Gap and Larry and Debbie Davis of Hillsville announced the marriage of their children, Zackary Wayne Hill and Ashley Morgan Davis.
    The ceremony was Aug. 4 at the gazebo at Claytor Lake State Park. Amber Harris officiated.

    Maid of honor was Lauren Reed, friend of the bride.
    Bridesmaids were Sabrina Collins, sister of the bride and Kristie Lineberry, cousin of the bride.
    Groomsmen were Dustin Quesenberry, Jason Shaffer and Brandon Priest, friends of the bride and groom.

    Christopher Mason Nobili celebrated his third birthday recently with family and friends with a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse party at his home in Charlotte, N.C.

    He is the son of Chris and Christina Nobili of Charlotte. He is the grandson of John and Virginia Nobili of Woodlawn, Rebecca and Danny Primm of Austinville and Arlie and Toni Hall of Fancy Gap. He is the great-grandson of Artie Belle Primm of Hillsville.

    Jessie Renea Gamble of Mouth of Wilson and Justen Eugene Whitaker of Galax were united in marriage Dec. 31, 2011, at Young’s Chapel Baptist Church.
    The Rev. Doug Turnmire officiated the ceremony.
    A reception was held at the Oak Hill Academy dining hall.

    The bride is the daughter of Michael and Rena Gamble of Mouth of Wilson. The groom is the son of Gene Whitaker of Galax and Patsy Byrd of Richlands.

    A celebration with nearly 60 family and friends was held at Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center.
