Zandon Jax McCrary turned one on April 16. He celebrated his birthday April 17with an Elmo party at his home with family and friends. His parents are Jimmy McCrary and Megan Hayes.

His grandparents are Alan and Jeanette Alderman and Billy and the late Tonya McCrary. His great-grandparents are the late Jane Warsham and the late Jack Marshall, Martin and Sue Alderman, Mary Ann and Bill Jones and the late Bill McCrary and Agnes McCrary.

Glayds McCraw Hill celebrated her 100th birthday this month.
She was born Aug. 20, 1910, and married Troy Hill on Aug. 26, 1928.

They have two daughters, Irene Sumner and Vera McGrady. She has four grandchildren, six great and one step great-grandchild; five great-great and two step great-great-grandchildren. She is oldest of three living siblings.
Hill has always been active in church, farming, cooking for her family and baking for the family restaurant until the late 1980s.

Joe and Edith Russell of Baywood celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Aug. 13.

They were married Aug. 13, 1950, in York, S.C.
They have three children, including a daughter, Barbara Bishop of Willis; and sons Jesse Russell of Baywood and Jerry Russell of Woodlawn.

Rachel Leigh Williams and Johnathan Lee Lewis of Calabash, N.C., were united in marriage at 3 p.m. Dec. 29, 2009 in Amelia Island, Fla.

Attending were Rachel’s parents, Doyle and Katherine Williams, and her grandmother, Laura Brannock, all of Calabash; and Johnathan’s mother, Sharon Lewis Hall of Ararat, N.C., and his brother and sister-in-law.
The reception was held at The Verandas in Amelia Island. Another reception was held Jan. 16 in Galax for other family members and friends at Hillcrest Baptist Church social hall.
