  • Farmer, Tucker exchange vows

    Brittany Leigh Farmer and Charles Richard Tucker were united in marriage May 22, 2015, at Claytor Lake by the Rev. Elvis Poole.
    The bride is the daughter of John and Jennifer Farmer. She is the granddaughter of Edward and the late Iva Farmer, Howard and Zollie Easter and the great-granddaughter of Opal Robinson.

    She is a 2010 graduate of Grayson County High School.
    The groom is the son of Donald and Janette Tucker of Calhoun County, W.Va.
    He is employed with Utility Trailers, Marion.

  • Testerman turns 90

    Frances Testerman of Elk Creek celebrated her 90th birthday, May 17 with family and friends at the home of her daughter, Hilda Sutherland in Comers Rock.

    She has three other children, Wayne Osborne, Grey Osborne and Janet Farmer. Her only living sibling, Gordie Anderson and wife Natalie, were present from Indiana. She was born May 19, 1925, in Grubbs Chapel.

    Inze Williams celebrated her 85th birthday recently at a party at her son’s house with her family.
     

  • He's one

    Luke Harvey Ward turned one year old on Jan. 28. He is the son of Kris and Mary Lynne Ward of Independence. His older brothers are Braeden and Levi.

    His grandparents are Harry Cox, Bo and Susan Moxley, and Harvey and Jill Ward. His great-grandparents are Agnes Cox, Mary Jane Hollingsworth, Danna Ward, and Lacy and Dreama Bowman. Luke celebrated with a “Little Man” party at his home.

  • Twins turn two

    Sophie and Emma Bergeron turned age two on May 17. They are the daughters of Boo and Penny Bergeron and the sisters of Dana and Landon. They celebrated with an Olaf party at their home.

    They are granddaughters of Gary and Lisa Bergeron of Mississippi, Lisa Rattlinggourd of Pearisburg and Ronnie and Debbie Hoffman of Galax. They are the great-granddaughters of Althea and the late Bert Bergeron of Mississippi, Vance and the late Helen Hoffman of Galax, and the late Carl and Anne Fisher of Pearisburg.

  • Haynes, Choate exchange vows

    LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Daniel Ray Choate and Lisa Marie Haynes were united in a private marriage ceremony in Las Vegas at the Chapel of Flowers.

    The bride is the daughter of David Hodges of Martinsville, Va., and Joyce Sanders of Knoxville, Tenn. She owns and operates Hashtag Clothing & More in Hillsville, Va.
    The groom is the son of Andy and Dora Leigh Choate of Galax, Va. He is employed by Wytheville Community College as assistant professor of construction technologies at Crossroads Institute.

    Aurora Gregory turned 3 on April 4. She celebrated at her home with a Minnie Mouse Party with family and friends.

    Her parents are Jimmie and Whitney Gregory, sister Madalyn and brother Parker. Her grandparents are Eddie and Brenda Ward of Independence and John and Frances Pierce of Fries.

  • Mallison, Shealor exchange vows

    Melody Denise Mallinson and Caleb Lee Shealor were joined in marriage March 15, 2015, in an intimate ceremony at Bogey’s on the seventh green in Galax.
    The ceremony was officiated by Pastor Derek Cowan.

    The bride is the daughter of Keith and Debi Mallinson of Independence. She is the granddaughter of Gil and Shelby Wetmore and the great-granddaughter of Dot Blevins, all of Independence.
    She is a graduate of Grayson County High School and attends Wytheville community College. She is a manager at Chic-Fil-A.

  • Flanagans celebrate anniversary

    Donald and Juanita (Parnell) Flanagan celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April 17.

    Both are retired from Sara Lee.

  • He's one

    William Cayson Sluss turned one on Feb. 25. He celebrated his birthday Feb. 28 at Fairview Church with a Mickey Mouse Club house theme, with family and friends. He is the son of Scott and Cindy Sluss of Galax.

    He has a brother, Brandon Sluss; and a sister, Madison Sluss. His grandparents are Robert and Regina Lundy of Ennice, N.C., and Bud and Pat Sluss of Tazewell.
