  • Halseys celebrate 66th anniversary

    Loye and Wylda Halsey of Mouth of Wilson are still having fun after 66 years of marriage.

    Their secret is good food and a sense of humor. The couple will celebrate their 66th anniversary on Sept. 7.

  • Davis, Hill marry

    Zonnie and Vicky Hill of Fancy Gap and Larry and Debbie Davis of Hillsville announced the marriage of their children, Zackary Wayne Hill and Ashley Morgan Davis.
    The ceremony was Aug. 4 at the gazebo at Claytor Lake State Park. Amber Harris officiated.

    Maid of honor was Lauren Reed, friend of the bride.
    Bridesmaids were Sabrina Collins, sister of the bride and Kristie Lineberry, cousin of the bride.
    Groomsmen were Dustin Quesenberry, Jason Shaffer and Brandon Priest, friends of the bride and groom.

    Christopher Mason Nobili celebrated his third birthday recently with family and friends with a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse party at his home in Charlotte, N.C.

    He is the son of Chris and Christina Nobili of Charlotte. He is the grandson of John and Virginia Nobili of Woodlawn, Rebecca and Danny Primm of Austinville and Arlie and Toni Hall of Fancy Gap. He is the great-grandson of Artie Belle Primm of Hillsville.

    Italia Evelynn Rose Windham celebrated her fifth birthday Aug. 8. She is a kindergarten student at Grayson Highlands.

    She is the daughter of Camber Windham and John Windham. She has a sister, Bella; and a brother, Carmine.

  • Gamble, Whitaker unite in marriage

    Jessie Renea Gamble of Mouth of Wilson and Justen Eugene Whitaker of Galax were united in marriage Dec. 31, 2011, at Young’s Chapel Baptist Church.
    The Rev. Doug Turnmire officiated the ceremony.
    A reception was held at the Oak Hill Academy dining hall.

    The bride is the daughter of Michael and Rena Gamble of Mouth of Wilson. The groom is the son of Gene Whitaker of Galax and Patsy Byrd of Richlands.

    Ethan Surbaugh celebrated his first birthday in Hickory, N.C., with his parents and friends. His parents are Chris and Amy Surbaugh.

    His grandparents are Victor and Pam Cox. His great-grandparents are Reuben and Estelle Hawks and Eugene and Doris Martin.

  • Hensdells celebrate anniversary

    Wayne and Ila Mae Hensdell celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary June 23.

    A celebration with nearly 60 family and friends was held at Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center.
    They were married June 28, 1942 in Independence.

  • She's four

    Breanna Lynn McMillian celebrated her fourth birthday Aug. 25. Her parents are Glen and Rebecca McMillian of Cana.

    Her paternal grandparents are the late Donald and Cathy McMillian of Cana. Her maternal grandparents are James Bevins of Mount Airy, N.C., and Brenda Carter of Cana. She has two aunts, Chasity McMillian and Tina Carter.

  • Quesenberry, Viers to marry

    Don and Cheryl Quesenberry of Hillsville along with Josh and Dreama Viers of Abingdon announce the engagement of their children, Brandon Quesenberry and Nicole Viers.
    Quesenberry is the grandson of Clyde and Faye Lineberry of Hillsville and Darlen and the late Ernest Quesenberry of Sylvatus.

    He is a 2002 graduate of Carroll County High School. He completed entry-level law enforcement academy in 2010 and is a police officer for the Hillsville Police Department.

  • Gravely, Hauslohner to wed

    Austin David Hauslohner and Shannon Michelle Gravely of Galax announced their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    Gravely is the daughter of Kern McCoy Gravely Jr. and the late Kathy Ann Gravely of Galax. She is a 2005 graduate of Galax High School and is employed as floral manager at Food City in Galax.
