  • Jones, Worrell to marry

    Phillip and Patricia Jones of Cana recently announced the engagement of their daughter, Caitlin Elizabeth, to Stafford Lee Worrell.  
    Worrell is the son of Sandy and Dr. Dan Worrell of Woodlawn.

    Jones is a 2013 graduate of Virginia Tech and is office administrator at the Wound Care Center in Mount Airy, N.C.  
    Worrell is a 2013 graduate of Virginia Tech and is a computer engineer at Qualcomm in San Diego, Calif.

  • She's two

    Aurora Sky Gregory turned two on April 4. She celebrated at home with family and friends. Aurora is the daughter of Jimmie and Whitney Gregory of Independence. Her big sister is Madalyn.

    Grandparents are William and Vergie Lundy, Eddie and Brenda Ward and John and Frances Pierce.

  • Bartlett, Vaught to marry

    Robin Lynn Bartlett and James Douglas Vaught, along with their parents, announce their engagement.

    Bartlett is the daughter of Steve Bartlett and Edith Whitaker. She graduated from Wytheville Community College and is employed by Wells Fargo.
    Vaught is the son of Douglas Vaught and Mary Ellen Rhudy and the late Margaret Zachary Vaught. He graduated from Wytheville Community College and is employed by Hutchins Electric Service, LLC.
    Bartlett and Vaught and their parents all reside in Galax.

    Makayla Grace Hancock celebrated her fourth birthday March 28 with a Sofia the 1st Princess party at Trinity Baptist Church fellowship hall.

    She is the daughter of Kevin “Bubba” and Pam Hancock of Hillsville. Her grandparents are Doug and Carol Hancock of Hillsville and Chuck and Pat Edwards of Woodlawn. Her great-grandparents are Edd Crotts of Woodlawn and Louis and Bonnie Edwards of Woodlawn.
     

  • He's one

    Donald Tony Peak will celebrate his first birthday May 15 with family and friends. He is the son of Robert Peak and Chasity McMillian, both of Cana.

    His maternal grandparents are the late Donald and Cathy McMillian of Cana. His paternal grandparents are Tony and Edreen Peak of Galax and Bruce and Susan Webb of Eden, N.C. He has a cousin, Breanna McMillian.

  • Farmer, Tucker engagement announced

    John and Jennifer Farmer announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Brittany Leigh Farmer, to Charles Richard Tucker.
    Tucker is the son of Donald and Janette Tucker of Aronoldsburg, W.Va.

    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Howard and Zollie Easter, Edward and the late Iva Farmer and the great-granddaughter of Opal Robinson.
    A May 23, 2015 wedding is planned.

  • Thomas, Nichols to marry

    Mark Elliott Thomas and Kimberly Michelle Nichols, along with their parents, announce their upcoming marriage.

    Thomas is the son of Kathy Thomas and Stacy Dalton and Marty and Sherry Thomas, all of Carroll County.
    Nichols is the daughter of Patty Nichols of Pulaski and Jonathan Nichols of Galax.
    A May 31 wedding is planned at Foster Falls. Family and friends are invited.

    Keircen Taylor Isom and Andrew Dylan Mays, along with their families, announce their engagement.

    Isom is the daughter of Donald Isom of Baywood and Lisa Huff of Hillsville.
    Mays is the son of Scott Mays of Galax and Alicia Reynolds of Hillsville.
    Maternal grandparents are the late Peggy and Junior Isom of Galax, Mary and Clifton Barr of Hillsville and the late Jimmy Huff of Woodlawn.
    Paternal grandparents are Bob and Wanda Mays of Galax, Jim and Dee Davis of Galax and Phil Grunlose of Coulee Dam, Wash.

    Brandan Halsey and Rachel Melando, along with their parents, announce their engagement.
    Halsey is the son of Lois and Bill Patterson of Wytheville, and Emerson and Sharon Halsey of Independence.

    Melando is the daughter of Rick and Margaret Melando of Charlotte, N.C.
    A July 12 wedding is planned in Richmond.
