    Jenna Mae Hall celebrated her second birthday Sept. 7 with a Frozen party. His parents are Magan Lawrence and Cory Hall.

Her great-grandparents are Sylvia and David Fields, Carleen and Jerry Lister and Bill and Pat Lawrence, Wanda and Buddy Brannock Jr., and the late Linda Stone.   • Brothers celebrate August birthdays

    Nolan Spurlin celebrated his third birthday Aug. 8 and his brother Luke Spurlin celebrated his first birthday on Aug. 29.

    They celebrated with family. Nolan and Luke are sons of Jason Spurlin and Jill Cockerham. Their grandparents are Danny and Carolyn Cockerham and Mike and Anita Spurlin. Great-grandparents are Rubye Cockerham and Louise Diamond.

    Timber Abrianna Mundy celebrated her seventh birthday Aug. 20 with a party at her home. Her sisters, Hope Gaynor and Taelynn Mundy, helped her celebrate along with many special friends and family members.

    She is the daughter of John and Tammy Utt of Woodlawn and Tim and Britt Mundy of Max Meadows. Her maternal grandparents are Brenda Liddle and Emory Bearden of Woodlawn and Charles Liddle of Galax. Her paternal grandparents are Don and Mabelene Beverly of Cana and Wayne Mundy of Cana.

    She is the daughter of Karen Hash and Eric Hash. Her grandparents are Larry and Becky Elliott and Milton and Barbara Hicks.

  • Loves celebrate 65th anniversary

    James and Ethelene Love celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary Aug. 12, 2015.
    They have two sons, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

    They celebrated with a surprise anniversary dinner Aug. 22 that was given by their niece and their youngest son at their home in Galax and was attended by 50 friends and family.
    Ethelene also celebrated her 84th birthday Aug. 17.

  • Beaty, Burke to marry

    Jimmy and Amelia Bland Waller of Elk Creek announced the engagement of Amelia’s son, Will Beaty, to Jessica Burke of Smyth County.
    Beaty and Burke have been partners in pursuing their educations since 2007.

    Both are graduates of Marion Senior High School and both attended Emory & Henry College.
    Burke is a registered nurse and works for the Tennessee Department of Health in Greeneville, Tenn.

  • Semones, Lineberry to be married

    Lawrence Jeffrey (Jed) Lineberry and Lou Ann Haynes Semones announced their engagement.
    Semones is the daughter of the late Wade and Wilma Haynes of Cana.

    Linberry is the son of Edna Lineberry and the late Lawrence Lineberry of Dugspur.
    The wedding is Oct. 10 at Calvary Bible Church in Dugspur.

  • Baker, Bond to marry

    Donald R. Bond and Sue Bond of Galax recently announced the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Magen, to Alex Baker, son of Kathy Cox of Independence and John Baker of Roanoke.

    A wedding is being planned for Sept. 26 in Mouth of Wilson.
    Family and friends are invited to attend.

  • Patton family celebrates birthdays

    Children of the late Arthur and Susie Patton celebrated their brother Frank’s 80th birthday at their former home place that is now the New River Lodge in Galax.

    Five of the siblings have reached age 80 — Wilma, Odell, Hazel, Junior and now Frank. There was food, singing, and music by the Loose Strings. About 60 friends and family members enjoyed the day.
