  • Anderson, Crouse to marry

    Buddy Anderson and Dianna Crouse announced their engagement and upcoming marriage, set for Aug. 27.

    The wedding is at 3 p.m. at United Faith Church in Sparta, N.C.

  • McMillans celebrate 66th anniversary

    Harold and Lillian McMillan celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary July 22, 2016 with family and friends.

    Their sons Darrell McMillan and Gary McMillan are deceased. They have five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

  • Turns five

    Cassidy “Cassie” Lynne Marshall turned age 5 on July 23.  Her birthday was celebrated with a Paw Patrol river party. She is the daughter of Joseph and Chrissy Marshall.

    Her big sister is Izzie Marshall and her little brother is Briley Marshall. Her grandparents are Randy and Kim Bell and Dennis and Opie Marshall. Her great-grandparents are M.C. and Irene Bell, the late Verna Liddle, O’Neal and O’Needa Terry, and the late Virgil and Patty Marshall.

  • Bunn, Hoffman to marry

    Johnny and Constance Bunn of Galax announce the engagement of their daughter, Narissa Jossette Bunn of Galax to Bradley James Hoffman of Galax.

    Hoffman is the son of Valerie Wilson of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Mike Hoffman of Galax.
    Bunn is a graduate of Carroll County High School and Wytheville Community College. She is a registered nurse at Twin County Regional Hospital.
    Hoffman is a graduate of Grayson County High School and the New River Criminal Justice Academy of Dublin. He is an officer with the Hillsville Police Department.

  • Jackson, Morris to marry

    Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jackson, Jr., of Galax announce of the engagement of their daughter, Jenna Katharine, to Matthew Morris, son of Janice Morris and the late Michael Morris of Mocksville, N.C.

    Jenna Jackson is a graduate of Carroll County High School and was graduated magna cum laude from Oklahoma City University.
    She works in the entertainment department of the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta and teaches at the Lyric Dance Extension.

  • Turns 98

    Vita Barton celebrated her birthday at Waddell Nursing & Rehab Center.

    She turned 98 on June 30 and celebrated with family and friends who surprised her with a party at the facility. A special guest was her great-great-grandson, Silas Bowman, age 18 months old.

  • Parks, Hash to marry

    Eddie and Shelia Hash along with Michael and Rachel Parks announced the engagement of Toby J. Hash and Tiffany M. Parks.

    An October wedding is planned.
     

  • Currie, Fell to marry

    Robert and Mary Felicito of Mouth of Wilson announced the engagement of their son, Jason Fell, to Ellen Currie, daughter of Carlton and Haise Currie of Houston, Texas. 

    Fell is a 2001 graduate of Grayson County High School and a 2006 graduate of Virginia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.  
    Fell is employed by Halliburton Energy Services in Dallas, Texas.  

  • Taylors celebrate 50th anniversary

    Joe and Dorothy Taylor celebrated their 50th anniversary on June 24.
    The couple married June 24, 1966. They reside in Wytheville.

    They have a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Karen Taylor of Independence; two grandchildren, Daniel Taylor and Colleen and husband Trent McMillion; and special family member, Pat Taylor.

  • Turns 100

    Opal Virginia McPeak Goad of Woodlawn celebrated her 100th birthday on June 2, 2016, with her family at a birthday lunch and then at a family dinner at her home on June 4.

    She is the wife of the late Ernest Goad. She has three children: Janice Vass, Joyce Cagle and Elmon Goad. She has five grandchildren: Aaron Vass, Stephen and Joel Cagle, Vanessa Bottomley and Gerald Goad; six great-grandchildren: Arianna Slate, Alyssa Vass, Owen and Emmett Cagle and Logan and Seth Bottomley; and one great-great-grandson, Samuel Slate.
