Wytheville bank robbed about an hour after Carter Bank & Trust in Galax July 7

Staff Report

Police in Wytheville and Galax are working together to see if bank robberies in both localities on July 7 are related.

The incidents occurred about an hour apart, which means the suspect in the Galax robbery would have had time to reach Wytheville for the second incident.

Wytheville Police Chief Rick Arnold said the two robberies had similar characteristics.

The FBI and Virginia State Police are assisting law enforcement agencies in both localities with the investigations. The suspect or suspects are still at large.
