It was with great sadness that I heard about the Kroger store in Galax closing effective in March. However, I would like to take this opportunity to encourage all those interested in keeping this store open to do a letter writing campaign.
Social media may be the thing at this time, but also keep in mind that all the Facebook posts may or may not be read. However, if you send a letter stating your concerns, be assured that someone in that office will open that letter.
The more letters you send may be the avenue to keeping the store in Galax.
Even though I do not live in the area at this time, that does not mean that I want to see this store close. Every trip to Galax is a trip to the Kroger store to stock up on items that I cannot get in my area of Rockingham, N.C.
I can well remember some of the old locations of Kroger, as it was my family’s favorite grocery store. To this day, my family continues to shop at Kroger.
Not only will my family be affected, but think about the people who live close enough to this store to walk and get what they need. These people would be adversely affected with the closing.
Also, Kroger just announced on Jan. 21, 2014, that a new president of the Mid-Atlantic Division was named. His name is Joe Fey and he will be in the Roanoke office. Therefore, we now have “new blood” in the system to contact.
Send your letters to: Kroger Mid-Atlantic Division, 3631 Peters Creek Rd., Roanoke, VA 24019-4002.
