HILLSVILLE — A 63-year-old Woodlawn resident was charged with causing a wreck on U.S. 221 in front of the NAPA auto parts store when she turned in front of an approaching 2000 Chrysler Town and Country minivan Monday.
The accident occurred at 2:15 p.m. when Christopher Lee Donithan was traveling southbound on 221 in the minivan with three juvenile passengers, according to a Hillsville Police Department report.
At that time, a 1998 Ford pickup, driven by Gail Emily Golden of Breezy Ridge Road and owned by Fred Dobbs of Austinville, was heading north when it turned in to the NAPA parking lot in front of the minivan.
That caused the minivan to run off the road, striking a concrete curb, turning the vehicle over onto its top.
The Hillsville Fire Department and Carroll Fire Rescue responded to the scene to assist.
The investigating officer charged Golden with failure to yield the right of way.
Occupants of the Donithan vehicle were said to have minor injuries — cuts and bruises — after the crash.
