A 73-year-old Woodlawn woman was killed Wednesday in what Virginia State Police are calling a farming accident.
State police identified the victim as Thelma June Larrowe. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident occurred on Forest Oak Road near Apache Road in Carroll County, according to information from Sgt. S.E. Lowe, spokesman for the state police.
Trooper R.B. Phipps responded to a report of a vehicle overturned in a creek.
"Trooper Phipps reported that when he arrived on scene he discovered that the vehicle was not overturned but had apparently rolled off after the driver had exited the vehicle to open a gate," according to the news release.
The trooper thought that the operator "may have attempted to stop the vehicle from rolling away, losing her footing before falling to the ground where she was overrun by the vehicle."
Larrowe was discovered by her brother.
