Willie Osler “W.O.” Hill, 83
Willie Osler “W.O.” Hill, 83, of Cana passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 6, 2010.
He was born in Carroll County, Va., on Jan. 11, 1927, to the late Elder W. Cecil and Sarah McCraw Hill.
He was a lifetime farmer and operator of Hills General Store for 27 years, co-owner and operator of W.O. Hill and Son for 29 years where he took pride in advising and encouraging farmers. He was owner of Hills Orchards, which now is being operated by the fourth generation.
Survivors include by his wife of 64 years, Edith Leonard Hill of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Willie and Shirley Hill of Cana; three granddaughters and spouse, Gina and Jeff Kimble of Concord, Hayley Hill and Bethany Hill, both of Cana; sister and brother-in-law, Ozia and Layton Hawks of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Olin Hill and Oscar and Barbara Hill, all of Cana; and a special family friend, Cortney Schaepler of Cana.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Opal King and Orene Leonard.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., today, Friday, July 9, 2010, by Elder Rodney Marshall at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, N.C.
