Waddell stage to be dedicated Saturday

-A A +A

A ribbon cutting for the Galax Theatre Guild & Carroll Waddell Stage will be held Saturday from 4-6 p.m., with an afternoon of music by the contemporary folk band One Foot On Earth.
Refreshments will be served and picnic baskets, blankets and lawn chairs are welcome.  Admission to the event is free.
The new outdoor stage is located at 610 W. Stuart Drive, behind the Galax Public Library in a natural amphitheater setting.  Benches are set into the hillside and parking is available at the library.
The stage was built to commemorate the merger of the Galax Theater Guild under the umbrella of the Arts Council of the Twin Counties.
In partnership with the City of Galax, the Arts Council will bring several events to the stage this summer, including a “Jazz on the Mountain” concert under the trees.
One Foot on Earth is a contemporary folk trio featuring Mouth of Wilson musicians Collette de Ribert, Michael Floyd and Larry Paluzzi.
