Vaughan Furniture Company is hoping its sales and distribution business will increase after signing a licensing agreement to market and manufacture furniture under the highly recognized name brand Kathy Ireland Worldwide, a $1 billion corporation.
This partnership covers imported bedroom, dining room, occasional and youth furniture to be marketed as Kathy Ireland Home from Vaughan Furniture.
The announcement comes a week after KIWW and case goods importer and manufacturer Standard Furniture announced they were ending an eight-year partnership.
Galax-based Vaughan Furniture ended its manufacturing operations last year, and has evolved into an importer, marketer and distributor of furniture.
David Vaughan, senior executive vice president for Vaughan, said the furniture company will work with Ireland in the design, manufacture it overseas, show and market the goods throughout the country and bring it to store floors for redistribution.
“We're hoping to get in some stores across the country where we're not,” said Vaughan, of the decision to go with the product line. “Kathy Ireland is a very well-known person in a lot of countries, and we're hoping to enjoy some success with this partnership.”
Because consumers are familiar with the name, Vaughan said they will get a comfort from purchasing a Kathy Ireland brand.
Vaughan will begin marketing the Kathy Ireland brand when it hits the annual furniture market in April in High Point, N.C. A larger introduction of the line will be held in October, also in High Point.
“Kathy Ireland Worldwide has been great to work with,” said Vaughan. “We're excited about this.”

The company president said the brand has a global reputation for fashion, quality, value, safety, solutions and beauty of design in the home industry. KIWW, he added, has become a dominant brand name in dozens of product fields by adhering to the company's mission statement: finding solutions for families, especially busy moms.
Kathy Ireland, CEO and chief designer of KIWW, said all of its designs “will coordinate seamlessly and live in its Style Guides.”
