UPDATED 7/18 WITH REVISED BLAST TIMES
Increased blasting is scheduled to begin Thursday for a road improvement project on northbound Interstate 77 in Carroll County, where rock is being removed from a slope between mile markers 2 and 4.
Blasting will be done at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays to assist in the rock removal, with a potential second blast at 1 p.m.
Drivers should expect possible delays between 10:30 a.m. and noon and between 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. in the northbound and southbound lanes of I-77 between mile markers 2 and 4.
Work is scheduled to be completed by September.
A lane closure on northbound I-77 reducing this three-lane section of I-77 to two lanes is already in place. A concrete barrier wall has been installed.
Dates and times for blasting are tentative and could be adjusted due to weather or work schedule.
