INDEPENDENCE — Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the alleged theft of four tires from Independence Tire on Dec. 3.
Cpl. Matthew Adams of the Independence Police Department said the department received a call reporting the theft about 3 p.m.
Adams said employees reportedly saw a man and woman remove four tires from a storage trailer.
Employees described the vehicle as a 1986 Dodge Ram Charger, and Adams and Chief James Wagoner located the vehicle parked on Deer Run Lane off Elliott Place.
Adams said Ezra Allen Royal, 55, and Nellie Victoria Lisle, 44, both of Galax, were still in the vehicle and were arrested without incident.
Four tires were found in the vehicle. Royal and Lisle were both charged with grand larceny.
Adams said the suspects had the vehicle inspected at Independence Tire earlier that afternoon.
Adams said the tires were valued at $90 each.
Royal was placed in the New River Valley Regional Jail in Dublin while Lisle was released.
A preliminary hearing for the suspects is set for Jan. 14 in Grayson County General District Court.
