RICHMOND — Gov. Bob McDonnell has issued an executive order to establish a task force to review school and campus safety conditions in response to the Dec. 14 school shooting in Newtown, Conn.
The governor also has come under some fire for saying he would be open to a discussion about allowing school employees to be armed.
Meanwhile, Republicans in the state legislature and a Democratic candidate for governor are both calling for more school resource officers, and one U.S. Senator from Virginia is pushing for more gun control laws.
