Tragedy can be prevented

-A A +A

Generally, traffic slows down at the presence of flashing lights at the side of the road or law enforcement riding with traffic or burning flares.

Why not have a coordinated effort of law enforcement and rescue before and during severe fog and wind weather on death's highway, Interstate 77 through Fancy Gap?

Man hours and effort will be called up to respond to the scenes to process accidents. Why not try a preventive effort?

VDOT has logged hundreds of crashes in this area from 2006 to 2008. What was the ultimate cost in loss of lives, property and time?

Obviously drivers are not responding to the elements and fixed flashing signs and warnings.  It's time for new thinking and mobilizing a plan of prevention.
