The Holiday Tour of Trees main event will be held Saturday from 4-7 p.m. at the Twin County Hospice office located in the Vaughan Office Suites at 818 Glendale Rd. in Galax.

The community is encouraged to attend and take family photographs at this free event, which features Santa with reindeer, pony rides, holiday music and refreshments, as well as the opportunity to vote for a favorite tree.

Voting starts today, Monday, and runs through Saturday, at the Twin County Hospice office or at the Twin County Regional Hospital Gift Shop. Individuals can stop by any time to view the trees, pick their favorite and cast their vote.

Community members may cast votes for the “2009 Toast of the Tour” by making a $1 donation per vote to benefit Twin County Hospice. The winner will be announced at 6:30 p.m. during the event on Saturday.

So far, 21 trees have been uniquely decorated, and $775 has been raised to benefit patients in need at Twin County Hospice, a part of Twin County Regional Healthcare.

Twin County Hospice offers services to guide patients and their families through the difficult journey of a life-limiting illness.

Twin County Hospice allows patients to spend the final days of their lives in the most comfortable way possible. It also provides bereavement services and support groups for loved ones.

Andrews Farming has donated the 25 trees lining the front of the offices on Glendale, but will donate additional trees for anyone who wants to participate in the program. These holiday trees are available for sponsorship and decoration for $25 through the day of the event.

Twin County Hospice also requests sponsorship for refreshments and entertainment, including Santa with reindeer.

All sponsorships may be made in honor or in memory of loved ones.
