HILLSVILLE — Police say they’ve arrested a third person in connection with a string of burglaries at businesses and residences in Hillsville, according to Chief Steve Williams.
On June 2, police charged Ashley Nicole Threatt, 19, of Hillsville with two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of grand larceny and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to a news release from the Hillsville Police Department.
This latest arrest stemmed from the same incident for which Amber Rose Cottle, 18, and Shane Rodrick Burcham, 24, each face five counts of breaking and entering, four counts of grand larceny and one county of felony destruction of property, according to police. Burcham also faces a charge of larceny of a credit card, taken from the locker room at the Carroll Wellness Center.
These burglaries occurred at Elite Styles Hair Salon, H&R Block and unspecified residences.
“To date, approximately $3,957 worth of personal property and $2,377 in stolen cash has been recovered as well as 561 old coins and several items of jewelry, the value of which is unknown at this time,” the news release said.
Police made the initial arrest of Cottle and Burcham when police went to Westview Terrace Apartments investigating a distribution of marijuana case and discovered stolen property there.
From that case, Cottle, Burcham — along with Tina Starlena Carte, 43 — each face one count of felony possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
