Galax Police arrested a Georgia resident on grand larceny charges, following an investigation of stolen property, according to Galax Police Chief Rick Clark.
Michael Daniel Rainey, 33, of Eastman, Ga., was charged after Police Officer Kevin Hall took a report from Burris Refrigeration on Nuckolls Curve Road on April 24.
According to the business owners, one of the work trucks was broken into the night before, and a large tool bag was stolen, containing electronic scales, electronic volt meter, electronic temperature gauge, electronic leak detector, and other devices, as well as electric drills and electric screwdrivers.  “The tools were valued at more than $2,000,” Clark said.
Hall developed information that resulted in Rainey’s arrest and recovery of the stolen property on April 25, Clark said.
Rainey is being held in the New River Valley Regional Jail, pending his first appearance in the Galax General District Court, Clark said.
