WYTHEVILLE — A Virginia State Police official says that an investigation into an alleged assault that involved Hillsville’s police chief has concluded without any charges being filed.
Lt. J.J. Daniels told The Gazette on Jan. 23 that the investigation into an alleged assault that reportedly occurred on New Year’s Eve and involved Police Chief Greg Bolen did not result in any charges.
State police talked to town attorney Andrea Tolbert, Daniels said. He could not comment any further on the matter.
The alleged incident occurred while Bolen reportedly was at a neighbor’s house on Dec. 31, and involved a person from out of town. Hillsville police responded initially, but turned the investigation over to state police because the chief was involved, as called for by department protocol.
Hillsville Mayor Greg Crowder declined to comment on the situation, saying this was a personnel matter.
Messages seeking comment from Bolen from The Gazette were not returned on Friday.
