A 16-year-old male was taken into custody on Dec. 20 by Galax Police Department officers and Carroll Sheriff’s Department deputies after police received a report of a possible stabbing, according to a press release.

Carroll County deputies were dispatched to 70 Farmville Lane in the Pipers Gap section of Carroll County last Friday at 8:40 p.m., after dispatchers received a 911 call of a dispute at the residence.
At the home, responding deputies found a 17-year-old male with a severe stab wound to his abdomen, according to Carroll Sheriff J.B. Gardner.
The juvenile victim was transported to Oakland Elementary School and flown by helicopter to Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C., where he was listed in serious condition, said Gardner.
No information was available about the victim’s condition on Monday.
After a brief search of the area, officers located the suspect walking on Pipers Gap Road.
The suspect was taken into custody by Carroll County deputies and transported to the sheriff’s office, Gardner said.
Cpl. David Walls of the sheriff’s department obtained charges on the suspect for aggravated malicious wounding, and the youth was transported to the regional juvenile detention center in Christiansburg.
Police have not released the names of the victim and suspect because they are juveniles.
As of Monday, this incident was still under investigation.
Deputies Billy Johnson and Bobby Melton and Cpl. Chuck Edwards also assisted in the investigation.
