6-on-6 soccer tournament The 2010 JH Soccer Academy Six-A-Side tournament will be held March 6-7 at Carroll County High School. Divisions for Adult Open, 11U, 15U and 19U boys and girls. Entry fee is $120 before Feb. 19, $150 after. Teams guaranteed three 30-minute games. Maximum eight players per roster. Proceeds benefit the Joel Howard Harris Memorial Scholarship.   JH Soccer Academy camp JH Soccer Academy will host a camp at Carroll County High School on Feb. 20. Camp will be divided into three segments – a recreational camp from 9-11 a.m. for ages 5-12 covering basic skills, cost is $15; an advanced skills camp from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for ages 7-12, cost is $25; and a high school field camp from 1-5 p.m. for ages 13-19, cost is $30. For more information, e-mail harrismhh@comcast.net.   Galax AAU tournament The Galax AAU basketball program will host a tournament on Feb. 27-28 at Galax High School and Middle School. Registration is limited to the first eight teams in each age group to enter. Entry fee is $150, with a three-game guarantee. Registration deadline is 5 p.m., Feb. 23. Teams from AAU, YBOOA, USSSA and other organizations are welcome. For more information, call Stewart Merdian at (276) 233-1328.   CCYSA soccer registration Registration for the Carroll County Youth Soccer Association spring season will be Feb. 9 and 11 from 6:30-7:30 at the Southwestern Virginia Training Center and on Feb. 11 from 3:45-5 p.m. in the CCHS gym lobby. Registration is cancelled if no school. Snow dates are Feb. 16 and 18. Ages 4-14 may sign up for $20 per player. Registration and a mini-camp will be held Feb. 6 from 9-11 a.m. at the CCHS gym. Cost is $10 which includes free t-shirt. Games will start March 13. For more information, visit www.carrollcountysoccer.org or call (276) 398-3287 or (276) 755-4541.   Meet the Team night fundraiser at OHA Oak Hill Academy will host a Meet the Gold Team fundraising event on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. The event will revolve around the Warriors’ home game with Mountain State Academy. For a $100 tax-deductible donation per person, participants will receive admission to the game with reserved seating, admission to a reception following the game, a program autographed by the players, an Oak Hill Academy t-shirt, photo opportunities with the team and a chance to win an autographed game ball. Registration is for anyone ages 11-14 and limited to the first 10 to sign up and pay. Registration is through Feb. 12. Group will leave the recreation center at 7 a.m. and return at approximately 3:30 p.m. Cost is $30 per person, which includes rental and lift ticket. Call 236-3218 for more information.   Carroll County Dixie baseball/softball The Carroll County Parks and Recreation Department will conduct Dixie baseball and softball registration through March 5. Registration is for T-ball, coach-pitch, Minors, Majors, 13-14 Boys and Pre-Majors baseball, as well as Angels, Ponytails and Belles softball. Registration will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays at the CCRD office, and Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 6-7:30 p.m. at the St. Paul School gym lobby. Call (276) 730-3191 for more information.   Boating safety and education course The Galax Parks and Recreation Department will conduct a boating safety and education certification course on Saturday, Feb. 20, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. This course is required by Virginia boating laws to operate any boat or personal watercraft in the state. Registration is through Feb. 15. Must attend entire session and pass exam to satisfy boating law. Cost is $5 to cover expenses. Course is limited to the first 40 to register and pay.
