As a Grayson County deputy, I enjoy working with some of the finest law enforcement officials and also some of the best citizens a person could hope to be acquainted with.
Sheriff Richard Vaughan is a progressive and dedicated sheriff that is always thinking of ways to better utilize personnel and resources.
He encourages training, getting to know citizens, and displaying a strong work ethic.
When I came to work for Grayson County, Sheriff Vaughan sat with me and discussed policies and strategies to optimize coverage for citizens.
His concern for the citizens is genuine and, I would argue, shows in the demeanor of the deputies that serve Grayson County.
The deputy’s training in our patrol division includes tactical schools, drug interdiction, crisis intervention and much more. We have a blend of training which enables us to solve the problems that arise during our daily work lives.
Training and equipment makes us more efficient, yet we are always looking for ways to improve.
I am proud to work for this office and feel that we have made a difference. I am Tim Sawyer, lieutenant of our patrol division. I have 24 years of police experience in Galax and Grayson County.
I make a conscious effort to know the people I serve and continually strive to make new acquaintances.
I do live outside the county, yet I am close enough to respond to situations as they occur. Due to my duties as SWAT commander and supervisor of the patrol division, I am on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
I am proud of every deputy in our patrol division. I love the county I work in and enjoy residents of the county and the city. We are blessed to live and work in such a great place.
