The regional Retired Senior Volunteer Program ended March 31, after its contract for federal funding was not extended.
District Three Governmental Cooperative is notifying participants in RSVP this week.
“Our program began 30 years ago in 1984, and at its peak served over 1,000 volunteers,” District Three said in a news release. “The federal funding for the program has never been adequate, and the loss of United Way support in recent years has made it increasingly difficult to meet the local match requirement.”
The RSVP Program serves about 200 senior volunteers.
