School land to be sold in September

HILLSVILLE — Carroll school officials expect to auction off land behind the former Hillsville Elementary School this September, the school board learned Aug. 9.
Superintendent Greg Smith offered an update on arranging the sale of three tracts amounting to a little less than four acres.
After about a year of work, Smith said the sale of the property behind the Grover King Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1115 is almost ready to go.
“We have employed Tom Jackson’s [law] firm, as well as an auctioneer to move forward with the sale of the property.
