Zach Robinson is a lot of things. A good student, a solid citizen, an all-around decent young man and a pretty darn good baseball player. Add ‘nonconformist’ to the list, at least when it comes to his choice of higher education. While everyone at Galax familiar with a stick and ball seems to be heading to Emory and Henry College, Robinson will be taking his talents a little more north, signing recently with Bluefield College to play baseball for the Rams. Robinson, a centerfielder who is helping the Maroon Tide get off to one of its better starts in recent years, will be joining a BC team that is hitting its stride as a baseball program. Coming off a school-record 31-win season in 2008, Bluefield College is currently 20-10 on the year, having won 14 of 18 games since mid-March. Bluefield is a member of the NAIA’s Appalachian Athletic Conference along with schools such as Virginia Intermont, UVa-Wise, King and Milligan. Under fourth-year head coach Mike White, the Rams are currently in fifth place in the 10-team league with a 9-7 record and 10 games remaining before the AAC tournament in May.
