FRIES — The owner of a building that burned down in October is offering a reward for information about the suspicious fire.
The Virginia State Police and the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the fire that occurred shortly before midnight on Oct. 28. The fire totally destroyed the old Stevens Creek School building at 205 Pine Ridge Lane in Fries. The damage was estimated at $100,000.
“The owner of the building, Terry Combs of Galax, is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for causing the fire,” said Sheriff Richard Vaughan.
The building was being used by Combs to manufacture wooden pallets.
The Fries and Galax volunteer fire departments battled the blaze for several hours before it was brought under control. It was investigated as an arson.
