INDEPENDENCE — In an effort to better serve its coverage area, the Independence Volunteer Rescue Squad will hire two full-time personnel.
Squad Chief Robbie Wingate approached the Grayson Board of Supervisors March 12 asking for permission to do so, noting that the squad had begun billing insurance companies and expected that money to cover the costs.
Wingate noted that the squad had various members who had served — and actually helped spearhead the creation of the squad — and other members who had 20-plus years of experience with the squad.
