Show me the money
What happened to all the money they were going to put into the hospital? I noticed they put a new roof on it and it still is pouring water everywhere when I was up there visiting my family member. It looks like they are short on help to take care of patients or to register people. What is going on up there?
Editor’s Note: TCRH has been hard at work with several projects this year, as they discussed at their community advisory meeting at the hospital on July 18. To answer your questions specifically, they are looking to expand their staffing later this year. Several new physicians have already been hired, and will make their debuts in the later months, and other spots are still in the process of being filled. Construction and renovations to the hospital are still in the early stages of planning, but TCRH does plan an entire remodel of their facility later this year.

Be fee-free
It is an outrage, overcharging those people a fee who live down in the bottom and on the truckers‚ route. They have enough problems as it is. The city should have fixed the flooding problem years ago. What do they do with all the tax money? Those people pay taxes, too. They fix all these other roads, so why can’t they fix that one? They are having enough problems with water damage, the rains and mud and I saw people out down there with their street blocked, pushing mud for the last few weeks. Something needs to be done besides charge them a fee.
Editor’s Note: The caller is referring to a recent change in the monthly payment plan for the bottom area’s housing rehabilitation project. This project was designed to help restore the damage that has been done to private property within this area. This project was already designed with a sliding-scale payment plan that factored in homeowner incomes. City council voted in July to raise the minimum monthly payment from $0 to $25 per month. The restoration is on a 10 year deed trust, so the homeowners will have 10 years to pay it off. Residents and businesses will not be charged a fee for any of the road work.

Play it safe
I’m calling about an incident [in Richmond] where the little boy got shot by a gun — somebody shooting a gun in the air. Don’t people know when you shoot a bullet in the air, it doesn’t stay in the air? It’s got to come down somewhere. People with guns need to watch it and not shoot guns in the air. Play it safe and shoot in a safe place.

Down Mexico way
Something needs to be done about Mexico kidnapping American citizens. There is no way I would go to Mexico. I am smarter than that.

Looking up?
I’m calling in response to “doing without.” According to something I saw on Facebook today, it says the deficit is down over 30 percent, the stock market and corporate profits are at a record high, new home sales are rising, the unemployment rate is falling and consumer confidence is at a six-year high. So, is President Obama destroying America or have Republicans been lying to us?

Motive questions
Those FBI agents were sure ignorant when they said about that Trayvon Martin case, they didn’t think it was race motivated. That’s what it was all about. Because he was black, that’s what the whole thing was about. Those FBI agents might have messed the whole thing up.
Editor’s note: The caller appears to be commenting on reports such as this one from the Miami Herald last year, that, ”After interviewing nearly three dozen people in the George Zimmerman murder case, the FBI found no evidence that racial bias was a motivating factor in the shooting of Trayvon Martin, records show. Even the lead detective in the case, Sanford Det. Chris Serino, told agents that he thought Zimmerman profiled Trayvon because of his attire and the circumstances — but not his race.”

So dumb
Please stop publishing these stupid Mongo comments. They are so dumb and they are not funny.

Annoying neighborhood
I would like to comment on the “welfare apartments” comment made in a previous Gazette. I live near the low-income apartments in which most of the people who live there, that is what they are. I do have trouble around my home. Kids will come around and do stupid stuff — throw firecrackers, letting off fireworks, making bombs, doing different little things. Just kid stuff, but it is annoying and it shouldn’t be happening. They don’t have the correct parenting. You can hear parents yelling at their children, parents yelling at each other, kids crying all the time and it is ridiculous. It is not just that type of people, but if you live near it, it does get very annoying, especially when nothing is ever done about it. Our system needs to keep a check on the type of people that are getting the assistance. There are people up there driving brand new vehicles that I could never afford and they are living in low-income apartments and they will flat out tell you how much assistance they get.
