Naughty for a reason
I just want to let everybody know I have been trying to be extra naughty this year so I would get lots of coal. I need it since APCo raised its rates again. Merry Christmas.

East vs. West
I live in Grayson County on the east end and I could care less what the west end gets. Every citizen in the county deserves the same, not just certain ones. I am beginning to [dislike those] people up there on the west end.

Thanks for the warning
I would like to thank the nice gentleman that pulled up beside be at a red light to tell me my brake lights were out. There are still some nice people in our town.

Independent speaks
I am neither Republican nor Democrat. I am independent. But just look what all you people did when you put all those Republicans back in Congress last year. Virginia is suffering. Look what our Republican governor is doing to us. We can’t afford another year. In 2012 we need to think about all this.
Editor’s note: You might present a more persuasive case if you offered specifics. Of course, the Congress is controlled equally, with Republicans in the majority in the House, and Democrats in control in the Senate. That’s a recipe for gridlock.

Not so
I’m calling about a man who is going around telling people he has a big family, no food, no money and he is ripping off churches. And he has got people for money that need money and took their money. He says his light bill needs to be paid and people are giving him money, thinking he is paying his bill but every bit of this is not so. I don’t want other people to get ripped off.

Why not?
Why is this Keystone oil pipeline — that will go through the middle of our country, tearing up the environment — the right thing to do when they wouldn’t put through fixing up our infrastructures, which would have employed so many more people all over this country?

Study first
If you think we are going to get America back on the track and be a great country again with all this mess we have had with these Republicans in there, that oil pipeline has to be checked out to see if it is safe to be created.

Revised remarks
I wanted to call and correct something that I said. I’m the one that called about the traffic lights at Subway in Galax, about turning right on red. I know you are allowed to turn right on red if there is no traffic. But I meant to say when there is a sign saying “no turn on red.” I’ve seen people turn right on red when a big sign says “no turn right on red”. When I saw the paper, I realized I had worded it incorrectly and I wanted to correct it. So, please, before your switchboard burns up, correct it to when there is a sign, “no turn on red.”

Well done
I’d just like to compliment Cold Springs United Methodist Church over in the Brush Creek area. Went to the play Christmas Eve and they did a wonderful job and also the little children that played the hand bells did wonderfully. Also, just saw a comment in the Hotline about churches not having services on Easter Sunday. Cold Springs did.

Much appreciated
I would like to thank those that participated in the Angel Tree project. If it wasn’t for them, I don’t know how my kids would have had a Christmas. I was going through a tough time this year. I would like to say thank you to whoever you are, and God bless.

That’s the spirit
Thanks to the woman at Kentucky Fried Chicken who, when I got up to the window, the cashier said, “the woman in front of you paid your meal and wished you a Merry Christmas.” God bless you.
