I am so disappointed in First Baptist Church in Galax at the “no service” sign on Christmas Day. After all, wasn’t it His birthday in His house on His day?

School news
I was just calling to see why Galax Elementary School and Fries Middle School and elementary school rarely have their children’s awards posted in The Gazette. Is this a problem just being published or is it that someone is not putting the pictures in the paper?
Editor’s note: The Gazette publishes extensive news and photos about school achievements and activities as they are reported to the newspaper. Some schools in the Twin Counties are much better about submitting it than others. You may want to lobby your principal.

Woodlawn School officials need to rethink the trip to Washington because a lot of these kids’ parents are out of work and it is going to be very hard to come up with the rest of the money they need for this trip. Why not take a day trip instead of a two-night, three-day trip that won’t cost near as much money.

Parking lessons
I would just like to say to the man that hit the front of my car Thursday at Walmart parking lot — you must have come flying in there because your wheels were turned all the way to the driver’s side and where you hit my license plate, yes, it left a place but it bent yours. Didn’t seem to hurt mine. Where you skinned the other place was some but you also tore your bumper because I looked at it and there was a hole and the threads were white. If you don’t know how to drive in a parking lot and into a parking place, if you will call the paper and leave your number, I will get someone to teach you.

I would like to thank the woman who was at Kentucky Fried Chicken and when I got up to the window the cashier said the woman in front of me had paid my meal and she said, “Merry Christmas.” God bless you.

Tough to get in
I think an area low-rent apartment manager needs to be questioned about prejudices about putting people in low-rent apartments. I’m beginning to think the manager just puts in who they want to.

Animal control
What is the use of the county or the city having animal control? It is okay for them to come to your house and write you a ticket for your dog not having tags or your dog being loose. But if they have to get out of their vehicle, they don’t want to do it.

Evil heart
How is it possible for one man to fool so many people when his heart is continually evil? He has even deceived his pastor. Quite amazing, I think. He is evil, I say, because he continues to want to hurt people. To me, that is an evil person. He speaks lies to destroy lives.

Here for you
In getting back to our families and teachers, responsibility is not a word people value anymore. Parents and teachers have a responsibility when we bring life into the world. When we send a little one off to school, say “I love you.” The children are not to be taken lightly. Children take time, energy, love and discipline and effort. Parenting and teachers shouldn’t be the most difficult career anyone should ever face. If it is not, it is time to assess the important things. Time, love and “I am here for you,” — not rods and switches. Take time for yours and our children. They are our future. They are worth saving.
