Animals get priority
This is in comment about the animals being mistreated, left in cars. If anyone is not going to take care of the animals, they don’t need them in the first place. I have two dogs and I would do anything I can for them to protect them and provide medicine and all. My husband says I think more of the animals than I do him.
Pulpit reserved
This is in reference to churches should leave politics out of the pulpit. That is for preaching — about our Lord and Savior.
Yes and yes
Vote yes on both Nov. 6 ballot questions for the best interests of Virginians.
Last chance
Questions we need to ask of our candidates before we vote in November: Is he for life or death of babies? Is he a definite friend of Israel? Judge by his actions, not his words. What kind of people does he associate himself with? Is he a socialist? A socialist is part communist. Does he absolutely love America without any shadow of doubt? Does he believe in and support our military? Please educate yourself. We only have this time to take America back.
Wake up
Obama has ruined this United States of America. Tim Kaine is a wanna-be. I’m sorry, but as a registered Democrat myself, there is no way in this world that any of what [a recent letter writer] wrote is true. You must have done this to make people mad and call the Hotline, like me. God first, politics second. For heaven’s sake people, wake up and vote this man out of office.
Timeline
In the post, “open to criticism,” Obama was trying to wait until the families were notified before coming on TV and broadcasting everything that happened and Romney just got right on there right then and tried to make a political advantage for himself, which was stupid and disgraceful.
Editor’s note: In a timeline of Sept. 11events in Libya published by The New York Times, there were statements about the attacks there issued by the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and finally by an Obama administration official. The official’s comment was reported by Politico at 10:10 p.m. Mr. Romney released a statement at 10:24 p.m., at which time he said, “It’s disgraceful that the Obama administration’s first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks.”
Wrong to watch
All you people that are fussing about someone being for gay marriage, you better not be watching programs like Modern Family. That’s one of many that have a gay couple in it. You sit there and laugh at it and think it is funny. I think that is just as wrong to support them that way. Oh, by the way, Mrs. Romney’s favorite program is Modern Family, so she is supporting gay. If the truth was known, Romney does too, because he flip-flops. Just whatever is convenient and gets the most votes at the time, that he is for.
Big bucks
To “unaffordable” — you are the one that needs to wake up. You are still listening to that station that is being backed by the oil companies and insurance companies. They will say anything. They are getting big bucks to say it. Listen to the other stations too. There are about three or four. Only one is saying these things that are not true. The others are telling it like it is.
Editor’s note: Somehow we doubt that there is only one single network that airs ads from oil or insurance companies?
Crack down
People that mistreat animals need a heavy fine and jail time. Animals don’t need to be mistreated. Period.
No end in sight
In a letter to the editor on the opinion page, “serious decisions,” Mary Lily Nuckolls talks about all the things that are going to happen. She neglects to mention the $16 trillion we are already in debt and the $2.1 billion a day we are going into debt even further. Who is going to pay that bill? That is thousands and thousands of dollars per citizen and we will be $17 trillion in a year and a half. It is unconscionable to spend money we don’t have. Who could run their business that way? Who could run their home that way? But, we are being led to believe we can run our country that way. This is so stupid.
Editor’s note: ABC News reported Sept. 6 that the national debt amounted to about $50,000 for every man, woman and child in the U.S. It was growing by more than $4 billion per day. At that point, the debt was pegged at $16,015,769,788,215.80. But who’s counting.
What choice?
I understand not wanting to vote for Obama because of gay rights. I don’t like that, either. But, which do you think is the lesser of the two evils? The church he belongs to believes everyone goes to heaven and no hell. So, what choice do you have there?
Editor’s note: We provided a lengthier answer last week, but Mormons do believe in a form of hell.
Reflecting back
Think about this on election day. Twenty-five years ago we had Ronald Reagan, Johnny Cash and Bob Hope. Now, we have Obama, no cash, and no hope.
Good and bad
For the person of “last chance,” I would just like to say there are good Muslims out there. I know a few of them. I am friends with them. Everybody is not the same. There is good and bad in everybody, no matter what your culture is — whether Hispanic, white, black, Egyptian, anywhere. There is good and bad in what you say about American Christians. And everybody else.
Don’t force it
We shouldn’t be forced to get Obamacare. If you ask me, that is a form of communism. So, show your support come election day.
Get registered
I read all you guys’ letters in the paper. I want to warn you to get out and vote. Be sure you are registered. If you don’t vote, you can’t complain.
Editor’s note: Oct. 15 is the deadline in Virginia to register to vote or change your address for that purpose.
Whose pocket?
This is to the people that want Obama to be re-elected. Get real. Whose pocket do you think it is coming out of when he goes to his election meetings trying to get back in the White House on Air Force One? It’s out of our pocket, not his, which is not fair. I say ditch him.
Editor’s note: It is a longstanding practice for the campaign of an incumbent president to pay for any travel that is strictly political in nature.
Struggle continues
A 16-month struggle is still raging when a mother is not allowed to see her child, when a grandmother is not allowed to see her grandchild while the child is living in the midst of lies and abuse and all the people in charge refuse to see or believe the truth. God help us.
For the poor
I’m voting for Obama because what I see as his Christ-like actions to help the poor, especially helping people that cannot afford health insurance. Proverbs 21:13, “If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered.” In 2010 Mitt Romney made $21.6 million. Matthew 19:24, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” As a Christian, the choice for Obama is clear.
