Ray Parson “R.P.” Taylor, 84

Ray Parson “R.P.” Taylor, 84, of Hillsville, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, at Trinity Mission of Hillsville.

He was born in Wythe County to the late James M. and Myrtle Frost Taylor.

Survivors include his wife, Mamie Shockley Taylor of the home; daughter, Jane Taylor of Mount Airy, N.C.; and niece and spouse, Deborah and Reece Matoy of Sweet Water, Tenn.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. with Dr. Lawrence Childs and Pastor Chip Neely officiating. Burial followed in the Felts Cemetery. Masonic rites were conducted by the Hillsville Masonic Lodge #193 A.F. & A.M. The family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday beginning at noon and lasting until service time at 2 p.m.
