RADFORD — Radford set the tone for this one on the first play of the game and the rout was on Friday as the Bobcats cruised to an easy 42-0 non-district win over Grayson County at Norman Lineburg Field.

On the first play from the line of scrimmage, Radford sophomore quarterback Dontae Carter called his own number and galloped 66 yards for the score. Michael Goodman’s PAT would make it 7-0, just 20 seconds into the game.

Back-to-back unsportsmanlike conduct calls against the Grayson County sideline would give Radford (3-0) the ball deep in the Blue Devils’ territory late in the opening quarter. On the first play of the second quarter, Radford’s Patrick Webb bullied his way in from a yard out and Goodman’s PAT gave the Bobcats a 14-0 lead with 11:51 on the clock.

Radford continued to have its way with Blue Devils (0-3) throughout the second quarter. In a matter of a three-minute span, the Bobcats would strike gold twice. With 4:15 left in the quarter, William Saunders hauled in an 11-yard pass from Carter and Goodman’s PAT made it 21-0. Then, on a flea-flicker, Patrick Webb would be the recipient of a 21-yard pass from Carter. Goodman would once again send it thru the uprights to make it 28-0 with 1:14 left before the half.

With the help of several penalties against the Blue Devils, the Bobcats would strike again, this time as Carter scampered in from 9 yards out for a 35-0 lead with 16 ticks left in the quarter.

Webb capped the scoring on an 18-yard run, and Goodman’s sixth extra point of the evening would make it 42-0 with 8:03 left in the game.

Grayson County finished the game with 146 yards of total offense after having only 48 yards in the first half. Omar Larreta led the Blue Devils with 52 yards on 11 carries.

Radford racked up 302 yards of total offense, 144 of coming through the air. Dontae Carter led the Bobcats with 214 yards. The versatile quarterback rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns, while passing for 144 yards and two scores on a 7-for-13 night. Patrick Webb tallied 39 yards rushing, including three touchdowns.
