Representatives of the Mount Rogers Planning District Commission are knocking on doors in the Grant community, passing out information and informing citizens that they can become customers of the public water project under construction in western Grayson County.
Through Dec. 30, citizens from Troutdale to Grayson Highlands School, from Grant and those living along a Grange Hall Road loop can sign user agreements and pay a $50 deposit to become customers of the public water system, said Assistant Grayson County Administrator Mitch Smith.
Customers who take advantage of the initial registration sign-up period will receive a free meter — compared to the more than $900 fee that will be required for new customers after Dec. 30.
Citizens should complete an agreement and return it to the MRPDC by Dec. 30 to receive the deal. “We encourage everyone to sign up and take advantage of this public water system,” Smith said.
