District Court

These sentences were recorded in March in the Carroll County General District Court Office, Hillsville. Sentences may be appealed:

Donald Ray Edwards of Ararat, guilty of DWI, first offense; sentenced to 30 days in jail, suspended; operator’s license suspended one year; pay $250 fine and $181 costs.

Dat Quoc Liu of North Canton, Ohio, guilty of DWI/drugs, first offense; sentenced to 30 days in jail, suspended; operator’s license suspended one year; pay $250 fine and $291 costs.

Mandy Cheryl Vernon of Hillsville, guilty of obtaining money by false pretense of less than $200; sentenced to 30 days in jail; unsupervised probation for one year; pay $191 costs.

Larry Junior Testerman of Hillsville, guilty of DUI, second offense within five years; sentenced to 30 days in jail, 10 are suspended; operator’s license suspended three years; pay $500 fine and $646 costs; attend VASAP.

Kristy Ann Smith of Hillsville, guilty of allowing a dog to roam free; pay $71 costs.

Jackie Edward Kennedy of Galax, guilty of reckless handling of a firearm; sentenced to one year in jail, suspended; pay $100 fine and $81 costs.

Jeffrey William Quesenberry of Brunswick, Md., guilty of hunt/trap/fish without a license, hunting without a valid big game license and exceeding wildlife bag limit; pay $50 fine and $10 costs on two charges and $100 fine and $81 costs on one charge.

Patricia D. Hamm of Fries, guilty of DWI, first offense; sentenced to 30 days in jail, 25 are suspended; operator’s license restricted one year; pay $750 fine and $171 costs; attend VASAP.

Miguel Angel Pedroso of Columbus, Ohio, guilty of possession of schedule IV drugs; sentenced to 30 days in jail, suspended; operator’s license suspended six months; pay $500 fine and $266 costs.

Donny Wayne Higgins II of Bluefield, W.Va., guilty of DWI, first offense; sentenced to 30 days in jail, 25 are suspended; operator’s license suspended one year; pay $250 fine and $291 costs.

Ryner Braden Parish of Galax, guilty of purchasing alcohol for a person under 21 years of age; pay $500 fine and $91 costs.

Steven S. Goad of Dugspur, guilty of bad check larceny of less than $200; pay $81 costs.

Thomas L. Webb of Wytheville, guilty of two counts of bad check larceny of less than $200; pay $10 costs and $71 costs.

Stuart S. Vass of Hillsville, guilty of bad check larceny of less than $200; pay $71 costs.

Justin T. Hall of Hillsville, guilty of bad check larceny of less than $200; pay $71 costs.

Candace S. Linville of Hiwassee, guilty of bad check larceny of less than $200; pay $71 costs.

Jeremiah R. White of Indian Valley, guilty of bad check larceny of less than $200; pay $81 costs.

Bobby Martin of Fries, guilty of conceal/price alter merchandise of less than $200; sentenced to 30 days in jail, pay $201 costs; supervised probation for six months.

Ronald Martin of Fries, guilty of conceal/price alter merchandise of less than $200; sentenced to 30 days in jail, suspended; pay $191 costs; supervised probation for six months.
