INDEPENDENCE — Those looking to break into prison are few, but the Virginia Department of Corrections (DOC) is offering just such an opportunity as it gears up to open the long-awaited state prison in Grayson County.
River North Correctional Center is scheduled to open by October, after the Virginia General Assembly last month included nearly $18 million in the state budget to fund it. The medium-security facility was completed in 2010, but has sat dormant since then because there has been no money to operate it until now.
