In economic times like these, it's understandable to be tight with your money. A fiscally responsible government should be tight, too.
But, that should only apply when a locality is tightening its own purse strings.
Recently, Grayson County Sheriff Richard Vaughan approached the board of supervisors asking for money to be transferred from the Special Law Enforcement Fund to a few line items in his budget.
