HILLSVILLE — Police continue to seek leads on the bank robber who hit the Hillsville branch of Grayson National Bank last Thursday at 9:30 a.m.

A robber dressed in cover-alls with his face well-hidden by large sunglasses, bandanna and baseball cap demanded and received an undisclosed amount of money from the bank.

With the investigation continuing, the Hillsville Police Department has issued a more thorough description of the suspect's vehicle.

"The vehicle is described as a 1985-1995 Isuzu, Toyota or Nissan 4x4 single cab pickup, red in color with oversized tires, black wheels, black fender flares, black running boards (nerf bars), loud exhaust and a gray or silver tool box in the bed," said a news release issued Monday. "The paint may be faded and it is believed that the tailgate is either rusted or discolored.

"Witnesses describe the vehicle as being 'rough.'"

Police ask that anyone with information regarding a vehicle matching this description call the Hillsville Police Department at (276) 728-2251 or the Carroll County Sheriff's Office at (276) 728-4146.

A $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.

Police described the suspect as a white male with a slight build, between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall; between 130 to 150 pounds.

A red dye pack exploded during the course of the robbery and police advise people to be on the lookout for red-stained money.
