Police officer assaulted

HILLSVILLE — A 20-year-old Hillsville man has been charged after allegedly resisting arrest while appearing drunk in public on Aug. 31, according to town police.
Joshua Edward Stanley was taken into custody after an altercation on North Main Street at about 9:45 p.m., according to a news release from the Hillsville Police Department.
Sgt. Alan Gravley approached to arrest Stanley, who appeared to be intoxicated
