I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to several people, groups, and organizations for all the services they provided to the Hillsville Police Department during the 2013 VFW Labor Day Gun Show and Flea Market:
VFW Grover King Post 1115 for help with preparation and planning.
The Hundley family, Lacy Bowman and family, and Glenn Jackson and family.
Mayor Greg Crowder, Town Manager Travis Jackson, and Engineer Steve Bowman who were personally out in the trenches making sure everyone was in compliance with all ordinances and procedures.
Judy Bolt, Vickie Yonce, Faye Rakes, and Lynn Burcham for getting paperwork in order, issuing vendor licenses, and answering phone calls wanting assistance.
Hillsville Town Council. Mike Mock, Carroll EMS, and other volunteer squads. Twin County E-911.
Chief Rick Clark, and the Galax Police Department for providing its mobile command post and all of its resources.
Galax Capt. James Cox who on short notice personally trained 3 Hillsville Police Department officers on bike patrol safety procedures.
Brad Phillips, Greg Gravley, and the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Sheriff J.B. Gardner and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office deputies and dispatchers for providing extra manpower and support.
Tim Lineberry, manager of CVS Pharmacy.
Citizens and vendors.
Terry Cole and the town sanitation department.
Hillsville Police Department office manager Michael Henley.
And most importantly to the officers of the Hillsville Police Department: the output of work and dedication you showed was amazing.
I received several positive comments from the public about your professionalism, and I want to thank you for your hard work and poise under pressure. You make me proud to be your chief of police.
If I neglected to mention anyone, please accept my apology. It takes a team working together to be successful, and what was accomplished over Labor Day weekend is proof.
Having such wealth of support made the 2013 VFW Labor Day Gun Show and Flea Market one of the best. Thank you all again and be safe!
