Police charge 4 with drug violations

The suspects were allegedly trying to buy ingredients to make methamphetamine.

Four people were arrested and charged with methamphetamine-related drug violations on May 7, according to a Galax Police Department report.

Police were called to Rite Aid Pharmacy in Galax after an employee became suspicious about a group that attempted to buy substances in quantities sufficient to manufacture meth.
While their attempt to purchase the items was unsuccessful, they were later found at CVS Pharmacy by Officer Anne Toney and Sgt. Shawny Jones. While conducting a field interview, a male suspect was spotted inside the store. He was located in the restroom attempting to dispose of evidence.
The suspect was detained by Jones and Officer Trevor Jefferson. After an investigation, all four individuals were placed under arrest:
• Kevin Vest, 48, of Floyd, who is charged with possession of a Schedule I substance (meth) and conspiracy to manufacture a controlled substance (meth).
• Kyle Freeman, 25, of Okeechobee, Fla., who is charged with conpiracy to manufacture a controlled substance (meth).
• Kevin Harris, 42, of Carroll County, who is charged with possession of marijuana and conspiracy to manufacture a controlled substance (meth).
• Tiffany Greenway, 30, of Floyd, who is charged with possession of marijuana and conspiracy to manufacture a controlled substance (meth), possession of a Schedule I substance (meth) and carrying a concealed weapon.
All four are being held in the New River Valley Jail without bond pending their appearance in the Galax General District Court.
