Picnic tables stolen from Hillsville VFW

HILLSVILLE — Unknown individuals have helped themselves to picnic tables meant to serve the crowds at the Grover King VFW Post 1115.
The tables served everything from family birthday parties to the Labor Day Gun Show and Flea Market masses.
VFW member Andrew Bowman used his regular “Veterans Corner” column this week to request that people be on the lookout for two missing 10-foot-long tables from Kitchen No. 1 on the grounds of the Hillsville post.
These tables disappeared about three weeks ago after sitting in the same place for two or three decades. Bowman believes the tables are too big to be taken by just one person.
“These tables are painted blue and are constructed of salt-treated 2-by-6’s, so they are not your normal picnic tables,” Bowman said.” If you have seen these tables, please get some help and return them to where they came from, no questions asked!”
As a non-profit, money that the VFW raises goes back into the community.
“Please help us to maintain what we have rather than steal from us, and as a result cause a drop in the amount of monies we have to donate by having to spend money to replace things that we have accumulated over the years,” he said.
