HILLSVILLE — Theft of museum pieces worldwide lags only behind the drug trade and gun running in illegal activities, amounting to hundreds of thousands of incidents and a source of funding for major crime syndicates, according to the FBI.
Local investigators can now add a June art theft from the Carroll County Governmental Center to that total, after two pieces of original artwork made by talented public school students mysteriously disappeared, according to educators.
