A pair of milestones were met as Carter scored her 1,000th and Motley won his 300th.

HILLSVILLE –– For several minutes, on a special night in an otherwise less-than-marquee Three Rivers District girls’ basketball game, Carroll County’s Mariah Carter mingled with friends and family on the court, but Cavalier coach Marc Motley was nowhere to be found. The fact that Carter was visible ruled out the possibility that she and her coach were in some back room playing rock-paper-scissors for the game ball.
