A Virginia state trooper who was involved in a rear-end collision that occurred on Elk Creek Parkway near Independence on Aug. 5, will not face traffic charges.
First Sgt. Mike Musser said State Police Sgt. Scott Todd conducted the investigation and will charge Trooper Jessie Tilson administratively.
According to reports, Tilson was traveling Elk Creek Parkway when he rear-ended a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Linda Halsey of Elk Creek, who was turning into her driveway.  Halsey was treated at Wythe County Community Hospital in Wytheville for her injuries. Tilson was not injured.
Musser estimated damage the 2010 Ford police cruiser driven by Tilson at $3,000 and Halsey’s vehicle as a total loss.
