Nelson, Zachary, Tide girls win in MED

SPARTA –– With the season on the line, Rena Holliday and Kaydie Stinson came through for the Galax girls’ tennis team.

Holliday and Stinson won a third-set tiebreaker at No. 2 doubles to give the Maroon Tide the deciding win as Galax edged Grayson County 5-4 in a playoff for the Mountain Empire District girls’ tennis championship Monday at Alleghany (N.C.) High School.
