HILLSVILLE — More water supply work will take place at Interstate 77 Exit 1 soon, after the Carroll Public Service Authority recently requested bids for an improvement project there.
Authority officials have issued advertisements seeking sealed bids for two components in this effort:
• for installation of lines and a pump station.
This will include 16,100 feet of pipe up to eight inches in diameter.
• for a 105,000 gallon water storage tank, which includes an access road and piping.
The bid opening was scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
Carroll officials have been trying to pursue a water supply that would allow for growth at the exit in Lambsburg ever since the Love’s Truck Stop located there years ago.
The authority has both drilled wells to supply Loves and looked to Mount Airy, N.C., to negotiate a more permanent solution.
Mount Airy currently supplies water to the Virginia Welcome Center in Lambsburg and has a storage tank inside Carroll County.
